History has been taught at Shri Niketan College since its inception. Beyond the prescribed syllabus, the department offers enriched learning experiences by providing additional training in folk culture and the ancient history of the Nagpur district. Educational tours are organized regularly to give students practical exposure and a deeper understanding of historical contexts.

The History Department also conducts various informative programs, such as Antaji Mankeshwar Gandhe Punyatithi, Kranti Diwas and Hiroshima Diwas, which not only enhance historical knowledge but also foster critical thinking, cultural awareness, and a strong sense of social responsibility. In addition, we organize visits to ancient monuments, allowing students to explore and appreciate our rich cultural heritage through firsthand experience.

The department offers a curriculum that balances traditional literary studies with contemporary developments in language and communication. Through its undergraduate courses, the department aims to enhance students’ proficiency in English, foster an appreciation for literature, and develop analytical and creative skills that are vital in today’s global environment. The Department organizes guest lectures, seminars, and workshops to expose students to various literary movements, authors, and contemporary issues. The Add-on Courses in Communicative English and Business Communication Skills are designed to enhance students’ English language proficiency, with a particular focus on spoken and written communication in professional settings.
